what your cubicle looks like actually impacts your work performance.

I wish everyone read this where I once worked as an assistant. My cubicle mate had the window seat and plants whereas I had the cubicle wall and couldn't put pictures or plants (something about how it "distracts"). My mate and I were the only ones with cubicles whereas the others didn't. Not a lot of us had a personal touch to our work areas and it's a wonder we got things done without feeling stressed. I think also I wouldn't have felt safe if I put an anime figure, if it was under $10, at my desk because 1) My boss has a clear view of my workspace compared to my cubicle mate and 2) My desk would reflect on the boss. Needless to say, my area was very bare which made it easy for me to leave once my time had come.
