I successfully fixed (and improved) the SFQ Section, and finished today. The new section is a bit cleaner code-wise, and has a few added features:
  • Cookie support - saves username and redirect preferences
  • Comment box on Randomizer - so you can comment regardless of view (note that the quickrate is still there)
  • More stats - added 'number of comments', and 'SFQ's left unrated'. I thought they'd be interesting, especially the last one.
  • CSS improvements - I noticed a few things were being declared twice, I cleaned up the CSS so it'll load a bit faster now.
Please visit it and let me know what you think!

ps. sorry about the downtime, I tried to upgrade things yesterday but ran out of time...

Oh yeah, and I have a mission for anyone with a lot of time to kill... visit the threads in SaL and DC and give me the date that all the sfq's have been posted....

I don't expect anyone to take me up on this, but it would be nice if I had this data.

I'll look into that, it'll save me bandwidth at the expense of using Veji's cpu a bit more.

Okay, planned cookie functionality for v1.2:
-Enable/disable viewing already-rated material
-Possibly more than one CSS layout?
-Whether or not to show the comments posted on the randomizer script (so it will load faster)

Nobody wants to take up my challenge? XD;;

okay, I just made a minor tweak to the quickrate box... now, clicking on the number below the radio button will also submit a rating (before, you could only click on the box to submit).

Also, I just got the same SFQ twice in a row in the randomizer... that's a 0.02923121894182987430575855013154% chance, lol

For the next version of the SFQ Section, I was thinking of a feature where the SFQ rating is hidden (voluntary participation?) in order to prevent vote bias. Also, seperate cookie vars for browseid and random modes is in development. Any more suggestions?

what do you mean hidden, so you can't vote on them?

oops, sorry it took so long to answer... when I say hide, it's just to prevent vote bias (ie. if you see a hilarious SFQ with a low rating, you may vote it higher than you would have otherwise to try and counter the low rating). This will obviously only apply to unrated SFQ's, as there is no reason in hiding the ratings for ones you've already rated yourself. This will be voluntary, as I imagine it'll be frustrating not knowing what other people think. Also, while it may not make sense to view SFQ's in the randomizer that you've already rated, it may be worthwhile to see some old funny ones, or comment ones you've rated earlier but didn't have anything to say.

after you vote though, you can see the rating?

Answering myself,
Yes
