Been wanting to make a cellphone topic, especially after hearing that Unit0918 was looking to upgrade his Ice Cream flip phone for a smart phone. So I decided to compile a quick list of favorite phones or stuff I'm looking at.

Currently I own an Optimus F6 LG-D500.

Review:
I have to give it props, it survived a fall from 3 stories and it's only scratched up. The only damage is to the port for headphones so currently I cannot listen to any music on the device via headphones (speaker is just fine) which might have been caused by another fall. I'm so sorry, I'm clumsy. Thank goodness for hard cases. The only thing is that is has 2 GB internal memory and without the ability to delete the pre-installed apps or transfer to SD memory card, I'm now in the routine of constantly deleted updates to these apps and bringing it back to factory setting so the apps I do use can be updated (yet even then it doesn't work well).

Pros:
  • External SD-memory slot
  • Swype on keyboard
  • Picture quality is good
  • Nifty drop-down menu

Cons:
  • No flash for camera
  • Comes pre-loaded with factory apps that aren't helpful; no way to delete

My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4.

I really like this phone, and I've been using it for almost a year now. It's a popular device so the peripherals (particularly the cases) are ubiquitous, and its hardware specs aren't bad. It has an internal microSD slot, and a SIM card even on Verizon. It has a lot of features that I didn't expect like facial recognition unlock but to be honest I don't use any of those things and I can't recommend anyone else to either for security reasons. It's swype capable but I don't use that either.

Pros
  • Very good camera
  • Very good screen
  • More responsive than my older Droid Bionic, probably due to hardware specs
  • Home button also used to unlock (might be a con)
  • Front-facing camera
  • Decent battery life if setup correctly (excessive radio usage can kill the phone fast)

Cons
  • Battery itself isn't top notch, most of them only last a year or so under heavy usage
  • Lots of crapplets/bloatware installed from the factory, and you can't remove any of them entirely
  • Mine sometimes lags while changing the screen orientation

Sounds like a pretty sturdy phone. What's the internal memory like? One thing about the Optimus is that the internal is 2 GB which--tl;dr stresses the phone out. I'm looking at these phones now but will probably trade-in to T-Mobile in December once the new phones come out in Sept/Oct so hopefully the price is a bit cheaper by then.

Cases! I like your squishy case, it's a contrast from my hardcase for Optimus. The clumsy in me is thankful

All hail squishy cases.

So I'm seriously considering to jump ship and go to AT&T... T-mobile, why you let me down? I may follow Buchan's plan of going switching from T-Mobile to AT&T. Sorry Buchan, I'm copying you. They have a special going on if I buy an LG phone (I'm looking at you LG G3), I can get a LG tablet for $1. I'm not particularly interested in the tablet since I'm prone to using the phone more but someone is interested in buying it from me and is willing to pay some of the data costs. Not too bad and even it doesn't work out, I don't think I'd be at a loss. Forgive me for being naive if that's the case

Okay so I took out the tablet at the last minute because the fine print added around $25 extra dollars to just use the line/tablet. Anyways, got a sexy LG G3.

Gah the S5 looked pretty sweet but the allure from the discount and specs in comparison to my old phone was too good to pass up. The Sony Xperia looked pretty good too but price was insane, around $600 or so.
