Hello, I'm new to the fire emblem scene...

has anyone played the gamecube version? the preview at gamestop looked awesome, but people everywhere else said it wasn't too great.

That's okay, but once you get into it, it's really an absorbing game.

The GC version of FE: Path of Radiance is actually a pretty good game. I've played a bit (my brother already completed the whole thing) and found that it's not that bad as some people say. Just try it out and find out if you like it or not.

Thread necromancy!

Recently, I've been playing FE7 again....and I've got the bug once more... I have no idea why the game is just so good for me, whether it's the mechanics or the characters and their stories, or just the artwork. Or maybe it's all of them?

I just looked around in GameStop today and I saw a new game for this series, on the Wii. The cover art looked nice, but I didn't look at it besides that. I'm sure it should be interesting though. If anyone has this let me know how it runs.

the FE on the Wii is supposed to be the sequel to the FE on the GC. that's all I know about it, maybe Sayo knows moar? I haven't played either of those yet that's why.

Speaking of new games, I've heard that they're planning a remake of FE1 for the DS! woohoo! Marusu-sama <3

Ike is indeed from the NGC (and now Wii) Fire Emblem games. As Sayo will probably tell (gush to) all of you, he's different from the past heroes because he's not a Lord, he is actually from the lower class (he is a mercenary, to be exact). However, he grows both in skill and as a person, and is eventually made a Lord. /happy end for Ike

I've been playing Sayo's copy of PoR and I can say now that I take back anything bad I've ever said about the game... the graphics may not be up to par with all the 'current' games, but that's fine because this is the first time ever that an FE game has been rendered in 3D, and I think they did a lovely job of doing the models. Also, just like the GBA versions, the backgrounds and scenery are vividly detailed and the attack animations are awesome too. There are similarities of attacking styles of the classes between the GBA and NGC versions, which is a cool retro touch for the veterans of the series (like me :3).

Also, there are FMV sequences in PoR, just like how there are CG's in the GBA versions. These FMV's are on par with Kaido Battle....for those of you that played TnD, you will remember the first time you've seen the opening sequence and said 'wtf these aren't PS2 graphics?!'...same with PoR, except it's even more breathtaking considering that the NGC's graphics hardware is actually subpar in raw power compared to the PS2 and especially the Xbox. If they made a movie similar to Advent Children, I would not at all be surprised if it was that real looking and crazy to watch....

I think I have too much to say about it in here, maybe I'll do a review. The only other thing I want to mention is that if you're used to the GBA games, there's a few more gameplay mechanics to master... the addition of Skills, which are sort of like the Ability of Pokemon, and (so far) one more victory condition which is Escape (similar to Sieze). If you have to Escape from a battle, the only way to beat the chapter is to have Ike stand in a predesignated square and Escape. There are experience bonuses for any units you allow to escape before Ike, too.

Wonderful game! Thanks Sayo~

Yep, I'm borrowing Fire Emblem 7 from Shonen, and it's a fun game so far, although it's frustrating at times. The character animations are amazing! The reason why I think the console versions don't look as great is because it doesn't give me the same eye candy like the hand-held versions do. I would've bought my own copy of Fire Emblem if it weren't for the fact that you permanently lose your character if they are defeated, and the fact that you can't carry your characters' stats over in a new game. :/

The remake of Monsho no Nazo for DS was released in Japan last month! What does everyone think?

As for the Fire Emblem games I've played, been stuck on Rekka no Ken for about 2 years; right now, Ch. 28 is killing me. Started Sacred Stones, but am kinda stuck on Ch. 8. Started Path of Radiance thanks to Sayonara, and am on Ch. 13. Love them all, but it takes a bit of strategy so I'm slowly hacking away at them. xD;

My favorite class is cavaliers. High movement, and the use of swords and lances is useful. And when they upgrade, you can wield the entire weapons triangle!

D: I forgot about it lol. I didn't give it a try yet, but I am making progress in Shadow Dragon.

Lord are a good class but then again you have to use them so it makes sense...I'm becoming quite fond of the Berserker class, since they can go over mountains and water, as well as get a critical % boost. Their strength is good, but usually defense/res/luck suffers.

With your six hundred something turns in the arena? haha. xD

Thats what happened to my Eliwood.....hes so weak cause didn't use him that much. D: Suffering now.....thinking about just starting a new Rekka file, but then the thought of doing everything again makes me t^t

The only Beserker I've had experience with is Hawkeye, so I'm not very endeared to that class. But they are very strong....reminds me of a Pirate but with the added bonus of mountain climbing.

Dart is better than Hawkeye, but in Shadow Dragon I made Sedgar a berserker and at level 20 his stats are as follows:

HP: 60
Strength: 26
Magic: 0
Skill: 20
Speed: 22
Luck: 7
Defense: 24
Resistance: 0

Not sure what the stat caps are, but defense is maxed. Besides his crappy luck, he's a solid unit. 7 movement, a bit less over water but he'll wreck anything in his way haha.
