This is more or less a placeholder topic until we find aftermarket replacements, but we've been doing what we can for free with the OEM ones.

Original post with removing an unnecessary box on the intake: http://www.digitalco...indpost&p=33369

Yesterday, I opened up the filter box just to inspect, and to my surprise there was more unnecessary stuff there.

only half the filter was being used? there's an extension to the intake tube inside the damn box.

it looks like it's just half of a tube, held on with a melting top plastic peg.

I've done this before with Xbox 360 chassis, heat it up with my reflow gun and it'll pull right off.

30 seconds or so at 300°C does the trick

didn't separate perfectly, but it can still be slid back on if necessary

I have no idea why this thing is here, as it forces the air to take a ?-shaped path in the box.

taking out the 'roof' (more like a 'floor' though) allows the entire filter area to be practically used.
